"She didn't want to run them over." Problem areas: Situational awareness, willingness to drive the wrong way on a one-way street, enough ammunition and the will to use it.

"Stupid is as stupid does, Forrest."
Mob attack on family caught on camera. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
Loeffle says after that, the situation quickly escalated. Her boyfriend, Ron Carter, was in the driver's seat and stopped the car to see what was going on. (Stupid.)
They say when he got out, the teens moved in on him. (Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.)
In today's collapsing civilization you must be aware and able to understand what's going on around you -- at all times. Anything less is not the fault of the savages who seek to victimize you and kill you, but yours.

Some time back I remember reading an article about a company that hardens limos and such for execs and rich folks who live in the more exciting parts of the world. Along with an armored Hummer or whatever they also offered schools for the drivers. One of the gems taught in the school was "If under attack, never willingly stop the vehicle. If you stop the vehicle, your passenger dies."

Really stupid indeed.

They did one stupid thing after another, and paid the price for it.

I wish I could feel sorry for them, I really do, but if they're too stupid to take some basic precautions for their own safety, then more advanced concepts like the historical precedents for what's happening right in front of their faces will be too complicated for them.

I moved far away from the large urban areas, and now reside on a nice little spot of land with a little farm in the works, isolated from the urban barbarians who are slowly growing in strength and number.

"In today's collapsing civilization..."

You have no idea how correct that is. I can see the writing on the wall. I used to work in retail, the entitlement-mentality of those with EBT cards is something to behold. If that system (Panem et Circenses) ever breaks down, it'll be time to carry a gun, permit or not.

Read any history book worth it's salt: Sooner or later you'll get to the part where the barbarian army lays siege to the capital city, then they break through the gates, then the proceed to kill all the men, rape the women, and drag them all off in chains as they take one last look at the smoldering ruins of their home.

History isn't done yet.

It has happened before, and today it's happening on camera. That "group of teens" would fit right in with Huns, the Visigoths, the Mongols, or the even Ottomans (before they settled down).

It happened with Rome. It happened with Constantinople. It happened with Baghdad. And sooner or later it'll happen with New York, Phoenix, Dallas (take you pick of any large city in the Western World), or even in the nice safe suburbs of those cities.

This one incident that you linked to (There have also been others in recent months/years as well) are just the tip of the iceberg unless they are put down decisively and immediately it's going to get worse as time goes on. We do not have the confidence to take the needed action, and so these attacks will only get worse, and they will become more bold.

Give things another 50-150 + years, and maybe the interstate highway system in this country will become too dangerous to travel, much the way the Ancient Roman roads became too dangerous to travel. Perhaps even good ol' fashioned piracy will make a comeback along our coastline as well in another three generations or so if serious cutbacks ever hit the USCG or the US Navy.

"The mother says she couldn't speed away because they were surrounded by the group of teens and she didn't want to run them over.

People need to get over this mindset. It could come down to the choice of running over a few or dying.

I get what you're trying to argue, but I flatly reject that murderers and marauders are not morally culpable for their actions, but their innocent victims are.

Even in lawless chaos, murder is still a grievously immoral act.

I was taught in a defensive driving class to "do whatever it takes to get out of the kill zone."

I would have ran them over and laughed while doing it.

One time I was in a slightly rural area within a mile or so of a not so nice populated area at 2am. Three youths walking along the road saw me coming and spread out across the road to block it. I instinctively floored the throttle. When I reached them, I was doing over 70, still accelerating, and they weren't in the road.

Later I wondered if it was necessary for me to do that, but my instant reaction to being stopped like that was to respond violently.

Actually, their behavior is pretty understandable, given that the ever-helpful state would charge them with at least manslaughter if they ran these kids over - an even worse outcome than what they experienced. What you guys are talking about makes more sense when society has completely collapsed.

Although getting out of the car didn't make much sense, and they should have kept moving at least slowly if possible, or backed up on the one-way street...

I wish some liberal will try to tell me the rationale for low-capacity magazines again, especially after watching this video.

The "youths" depicted were obviously up to no good. I wonder what Louisville's response turns out to be?

for these people in the car society did collapse.

these people were definitionally sheep. becuase thats what some one without a survival instinct and unable to harm an attacker is.

Looks like a target rich environment to me. Making hood ornaments and speed bumps out of those thugs would reduce these incidents dramatically.

Who can tell me what this was all about? Anyone? Anyone? It was a POLAR BEAR HUNT. Yessss, that's what it was. And why didn't the hunters kill their victims? Anyone? Because they didn't really want to, or they weren't mad enough, or feeling slighted enough. Yessss. And does anyone know what to do about this? Anyone? Yes, you in the back, waving the Magnum, what do we do about this?

We all say we would run these kids over just like the 3% keep saying there is going to be a shooting war. Typing a comment like I am going to run over all these kids on a forum with a cup of coffee on your side is alot different than being in the car and hearing the bones crushing under your tires amid the screaming. Then just think of your lost sleep at night thinking to yourself that you are screwed if even one of the barbarian kids had a cell phone that could have taken video of you crushing a few kids. I get the whole better to have your day in court then to be dead, but in today's nanny state, at the very very least, you would have years and years of your life ruined going to court for crushing kids with the vehicle. In a total society collapse knock yourself out. Look, at the end of the day, you do what you have to do, but this would not be an easy situation, and in the end, these "idiots" may have actually made the smart decision for not being in jail for life for crushing a few of the little bastards. I can at elast appreciate teh difficulty of this situation in todays nanny state world

They nominated themselves for a Darwin Award. I still remember the video of Reginald Denny getting beaned with a block of cement while the Orc who did it strutted and laughed. While I have no desire to run over anybody, I have even less desire to provide amusement for feral savages (is that a redundancy?) by allowing them to assault me and my family. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton can wring their hands and weep over the squashed predators and call me a racist, but that beats meekly surrendering to cannibals.

And they want to put auto braking on cars. Back in the 90s I was an EMT and gangbangers would carjack cars by pushing an empty baby carriage in front. The media didn't want to warn people because people like me would look to see what was on the sidewalks before braking after knowing about it.

Not stupid. Ignorant.

If you have not trained yourself, or at least prepped yourself when something new happens, you will do nothing.

When I saw that driver getting beaten during the Rodney King riots, I made the decision to deal with mob violence against me while driving by using the accelerator pedal.

My car has a lot more foot-pounds than my pistol.

I'd feel bad about being forced to do it. But I would still drive over them.

This is exactly the same thing I tell people when they say they could not shoot at a 'child' when the 'child' is shooting at them.
Tell me: at what age does a firearm 'grow up' and deserve shooting?

This is why we need "enhanced capacity" (*large*) ammunition magazines.
