Thoughts from the ammo line

I’m hoping the next .22 sale is on Christmas Eve to give me a sporting chance. It seems only fair, like when an umpire flubs a call and then later favors the other team in a “make-up” call. But I’m not holding my breath.

Put 'ammoseek.com' on your tool bar bookmarks. Hit the '.22LR' button on ammoseek. Have debit or credit card ready. Check it every day. I acquired over 10,000 rounds of .22LR this way.

Three box limit, is that 150 rounds, 300 rounds, or 1500 rounds?

Yep ammoseek works. My last purchase of .22lr was on Christmas day from Cabelas @.06 a round, only 300 rounds but a Christmas gift to me anyway.

There is a rumor out that Walmart will have 22lr in their Black Friday sales.

I don't get the hoarding impulse for 0.22 lr ammo. What is a reasonable amount to have on hand? Five hundred rounds, a thousand, ten thousand? The owner of a local firearms store said some of his patrons are talking about their hoard in "boxes". No, not boxes of fifty rounds, but retailer boxes of five thousand rounds. Several of these hoarders had piles in excess of 30,000 rounds.

You won't be living off hunting rabbits for the next eight generations. The 0.22 lr round will not be some de-facto currency of the post-Obama world. If anything even remotely like these situation come about, a good working knowledge of handling mules would be more valuable.

Maybe I should be investing in tulip bulbs.

Mr. Lafayette, my best guess is there's relatively little "hoarding" in that sense of the word going on.

Go to Armslist and Gunbroker.

People are buying up the .22 LR ammo from Wal-Mart and scalping it at a 600% markup. Or at least they've been trying to for the past two years now. One of the lessons that is being learned here, I think, is that there's a market for bottom-of-the-barrel .22 LR bulk pack ammo that displays a 3% or more dud rate and a non-trivial risk of getting a squib stuck in the bore at four cents a round. At a quarter a round, it's cheaper to shoot my 9mm or my SKS.

The exact same wanna-be munitions moguls did the same damn thing in 2008-11. There are some gun stores I know of that are still trying to sell old, faded boxes of 50 rounds of Federal 9BP 115gr 9mm hollowpoints at $62 and tax for 50 that they bought during the 2009 panic.

Hey Lucian....it's not about "need". It's about "want". When the ineligible usurper-in-chief was annointed in'08, I started buying Federal 550 packs. I bought it to barter with, to trade with and last but not least, to shoot. I had the foresight to identify my enemy barry barack soetoro hussein obama. I acted accordingly with my limited resources. If I had had the money I'd be sitting on 100k rounds. But I'm not.

Would you like a brick ? For you, only $80 plus shipping. Hahahahahahahahahaha !

Hey Anonymous @ 2137....how's it feel to want ?

Maybe you should have been less preoccupied with your X-Box and NFL football, and more concerned with the communist politics that engulfed this nation in 2008.

How's $80/brick plus shipping sound ? It's called capitalism.

Hahahahahahaha !
