A Short Note to Nick Desai: Your proposal for bloody civil war is regrettable, but acceptable. Be sure to come yourself along with the first raid party.

Nick Desai wants your firearms. He's a little hazy on how he's going to get them, though.
Common-Sense Gun Laws: Because There Are No Drive-By Knifings.
• End all open carry laws and outlaw all automatic weapons.
• After a universal background check, allow adults over 21 to own 1 "manual" gun that is kept in their home.
• Have a hefty bullet tax. Surely those owning guns for self-defense don't need cases of ammo for the rare intruder. Use bullet tax revenues to treat victims of gun violence and educate the public about gun safety.
From his bio:
Nick Desai is a serial entrepreneur who's successfully raised millions of dollars of venture capital to create and lead companies that positively shape the way we live, work and communicate. His latest start-up has helped thousands of everyday American families lead better lives and is an award-winning pioneer in healthcare tech. Nick is impassioned by effective leadership and is inspired by great leaders who create new industries, fuel economies and help societies thrive. Through his unique vantage point, perched atop the intersection of business, education, science, and politics, Nick is able to offer a fuller picture of the issues affecting our rapidly evolving society. Nick holds a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering. He and his wife reside in Southern California and, together, embarking on their most ambitious endeavor to date: raising their new identical twin boys.
You know, for an otherwise apparently bright boy, Nick Desai has got to be the dumbest collectivist sonofabitch around as well as totally ignorant of the Law of Unintended Consequences.
I wasn't able to find an email address for Mr. Desai, so I'll just present this very short open letter. If someone wishes to forward it to him, be my guest.
Dear Mr. Desai,
I have read your demand for citizen disarmament at the Huffington Post and I must conclude that you should stick to electrical engineering, for we'll all live longer. You are a bit hazy on just how you hope to accomplish this unconstitutional theft of your fellow citizens' liberty and property. Presumably you believe that issuing a diktat will make it so. Had you been paying attention to the armed civil disobedience of recent state laws in places like Connecticut, Colorado, New York and Washington state, you might want to rethink that. It is obvious in any case that you believe that your brave new utopia is worth the deaths of all of us -- and our families -- who would resist it by force of arms in legitimate self-defense of our God-given and inalienable rights. No matter.
This is to inform you that your proposal for bloody civil war is regrettable, but acceptable. Just be sure to have the courage of your convictions and come yourself along with the first raid party.
Or, and this is infinitely preferable to the rest of us who just wish to be left alone by tyrannical government -- and that naked force which would be necessary to enforce your "benevolent" proposal is nothing less than tyrannical -- you might want to reconsider it and stick to what you know. As the Chinese caution, be careful what you wish for YOU may get it.

Wow. This guy actually thinks the US would use nuclear weapons on its own soil against its own citizens.

No drive by knifings? Errrr, I beg to differ. Wasn't a British soldier knifed to death and beheaded in the street a few years ago? Whilst unarmed British subjects watched helplessly. Bonus question: What was the professed religion of those doing the beheading?

At least we now have the benefit of our enemies finally dropping the mask. Perhaps more people will awaken to the budding tyranny living amongst us.

Mike,
I noticed in his bio that most everything he does involves sucking on the tax payers teat.

There's so much nonsense in this I actually had to take notes to make this reply!..He's from So. Cal. (well, there's a big fu&^*$% surprise), holds a B.S. (yeah,B.S. that's what I call it) and he's a "venture capitalist" (read: insider). For his info, "automatic" guns are already a near impossibility for law abiding Americans to own. If you live in a tyrant state like N.Y. they're totally impossible...A bullet tax - my how the progressives love taxes; on anyone except Bloomberg, Buffet, Sharpton or Gates..And perhaps he'd like to give me a definition of "a manual gun", as my robotic artificially intelligent ones seem to all be broken at the moment and I could use something "manual"..And as I read he has twin boys, images of the Menendez boys are dancing in my head like sugar plums...I give you a lot of credit for finding this drivel Mike, as I could never bring myself to read the enemies periodicals like Huff. Post. You're probably the first human with an independent thought to read that crap in many years..BTW: The only "raid party" this clown could participate in is a panty raid...

In other words he is an elitist statist tyrant wannabe.

Nick,
FU, and good luck with enforcement of those ideas.

Actually, there are such things as drive by knifings. Happened at my college. Car full of gang bangers drives out of the city to the small-town college, pulls up to the tennis courts, gang initiate jumps out, runs up to and stabs a guy, then runs back to the car which zooms off. Totally random. Don't remember if they ever caught the guy. Editor of the student paper managed to scoop local TV and print news for the story, though, it was pretty funny having the AP quote the school paper as a primary source.

Thanks for printing this, Mike. It brings to mind Mencken's comment:

"Here (in America) the daily panorama of human existence, of private and communal folly, the unending procession of governmental extortions and chicaneries, of commercial brigandages and throat slittings, of theological buffoneeries, of aesthetic ribaldries, of legal swindles and harlotries, of miscellaneous rogueries, villanies, imbecilities, grotesqueries, and extravagances is so inordinately gross and preposterous, so perfectly brought up to the highest conceivable amperage, so steadily enriched with an almost fabulous daring and originality, that only a person born with a petrified diaphram can fail to laugh himself to sleep every night and wake up with all the eager, unflagging expectation of a Sunday-School superintendent touring the Paris peep-shows."

That's how you get rich these days - find a way to get in on the skim.

Funny.....I thought us crazy nut job gun owners were the ones wanting a civil war? Of all of the gun owners I know, not a single one has ever perpetrated violence against the government or another person.

This guy must have done ALOT of drugs in college.

There is no shortage of these sycophantic system suckers who would like to curry favor with the Commies by calling for disarmament.

Nick have you ever been punched in the face? Have you ever defended yourself in a fight with weapons where the outcome was uncertain? Fuck no you haven't. You're just another cunt.

I'd like to see this fella explain how all the things he demands ummmm WORKED OUT IN FRANCE- as everything he demands exists there already.

I submit that someone in the "business" community asked him about guns and his stances. Knowing absolutely nothing, he studied up on what the "popular" people have said and did a bit of regurgitation.

He only succeeded in making himself look like the fool, the uneducated and ignorant fool, he had to be to write such tripe.

"THE CUTTING EDGE
Buyers Howl as Computer Maker Signs Off, Vanishes
Search: Angry customers use the Net, the courts and agencies in attempt to track down founder of Nimantics.
June 08, 1998|P.J. HUFFSTUTTER | TIMES STAFF WRITER

A once-promising Irvine computer maker has shut down and dozens of angry customers, stuck with broken equipment, are flooding agencies, courts and the Internet with complaints.

Nimantics Inc. unexpectedly closed its doors earlier this year. Federal postal officials are investigating numerous customer complaints of possible mail fraud.

Dozens of tech-savvy customers--claiming they received defective merchandise or paid for computers that never arrived--are turning to the World Wide Web to find help.

"We want our money back and we won't stop looking for [founder Nimesh Desai] until we get it," said one poster on a local electronic bulletin board.

Thanks to Anon 2:14 and Anon 10:04 for that info on this cheap charlatan. It gave me the ammo to write a small piece to my e-mail readers exposing gun-grabbing collectivists for who they are. Kudos to both of you for the find

His "statistics" are either made up (i.e.US homicide rate is 20 times higher than the combined homicide rate for the next 22 of our peer countries.") or he doesn't know how to do basic research online. He also displays the ignorance so common to all hoplophobes, using terms that either have no meaning or are nonsense ("manual gun) or are incorrectly applied. Since when do 18-yr-olds cruise around toy stores with "automatic" weapons?

The entire article, and I use that term VERY loosely, is nonsense.

And since the Constitution does NOT contain the phrase "government of the people, by the people, for the people" (from the Gettysburg address by Lincoln) I wonder how he passed the Naturalization exam. Maybe he'd better go back to India and try dealing with the homicide rate in a country where there IS severe gun ownership restriction. He'd probably have better luck stumping for drive-by knifings there, since that seems to be their weapon of choice.
