An excellent piece on preparedness and situational awareness.

I carry a gun every day

Pretty good read. However, I see it is from the Contra Costa Times. Contra Costa County, CA. My wife and I lived there for over 8 years. I also see that the writer is a reserve officer. Bully for him. He is one of the privileged elite. Thing is, no lowly citizen can obtain a carry permit in CCC. I expect all of his so-called armed friends are cops too. Good for me not for thee. Just exactly who is this person training to take out? He mentions wolves. He considers himself a sheepdog? Ask the toothless sheepdogs in his area who cannot carry what they think. You will hear a different story.

That was good, thank you for posting it.

This is an entirely uncharacteristic story for the Cedar Rapids Gazette to publish. They are a rabid anti-gun rag that threatened to publish names and addresses of permit holders. I do appreciate the fact that this guest column made it to print, though.

If I'm dressed, I'm armed. If I ain't dressed, there's a gun within reach.
